Kensley Fohn, CPA

I grew up in Skagit Valley, attending Mount Vernon Christian School and Seattle Pacific University. My time as a CPA at a local firm allowed me to work with a wide variety of clients, both large and small. I specialized in dealing with estates and trusts, primarily focusing on tax returns. My heart for my clients extended past their tax returns and into issues CPA firms aren’t designed to handle. I now get the opportunity to come alongside my clients and help them navigate the many complexities of the estate, trust, and tax world.

I started my business with the goal of helping my executor and trustee clients in a much closer capacity and really partner with them. The scope of how I help my clients varies greatly. For some, I help them gather what they need to provide to the CPAs doing their estate and income taxes, respond to the CPAs requests, and staying on schedule to get the estate tax returns filed timely. For others, I gather all that information, do the tax returns, and deal with transferring assets myself. I also have clients who just want someone they can ask questions to and get a little advice.

My clients increasingly requested me to do their taxes for them, so I have now expanded my practice to doing tax returns. This involves doing far more than filing a form. I am available year-round to answer questions from my clients, yearly income tax planning, making sure estimates are accurate, estate planning, retirement planning, and cash flow planning.

In my free time, I do oil paintings, ceramics, watch sports, and spend time with my family, friends, and very special cat, Remi. I enjoy volunteering by doing tax returns for the Vita Program with the lovely team at AARP. I am also on the advisory board of an Acupuncture school – Middle Way Acupuncture Institute.
